ADP, an iPg LABS client since 2013, entrusted us with the challenge of supporting its new president to unify a team of 16,000 people, by kicking off an international event.
ADP (Nasdaq: ADP) is a Fortune 500 company that manages the payroll of one in six workers in the United States.
Virginia Magliulo is, since 2021, President of Employer Services International (ESI), the ADP unit that provides payroll and human capital management (HCM) outsourcing services outside of the United States.
As the leader of an innovative and highly complex organization, Virginia had the challenge of taking the organization’s strategy to more than 16,000 employees located in more than 140 countries.
How do you engage such a large and diverse team to achieve ambitious goals in a changing environment?
How do you take the company’s strategy and make known to the new management team?
Nine years side by side
After joining ADP in January 2022, Kirsty Walden, ESI’s new Communications Director, contacted iPg LABS.
Amongst all the marketing content and communications consulting projects we’ve undertaken with ADP in the nine years we’ve worked together, Kirsty was particularly interested in our experience organizing major events.
One of which we have been working on since 2014, is the Partners Executive Convention, an important annual event for which we regularly produce videos and content.
In 2020 and 2021, the Convention had to be held virtually, increasing the need for video production.

In this most recent edition, we also broadcast the event via streaming for hundreds of international partners, with very positive results.
The power of one
The challenge, now, was to organize the ESI Town Hall Meeting, ADP’s quarterly meeting in which the new president addresses 16,000 people to set the direction of the company and organize a unified response to challenges ahead.
Together with Kirsty and her team, we transformed their ESI headquarters in Barcelona into a television set. The new ADP Studios were to serve not only the Town Hall, but also the kick-off meetings of the different functional and regional teams, and not only now, but on a recurring basis every quarter.
Streaming for 16,000 participants required fine-tuning the building’s communications infrastructure, purchasing special software licenses, deploying four video cameras, and installing a control center.

Following this, we prepared all the necessary presenter content, enabling them to rehearse and carry out sessions over two schedules. This way we guaranteed a live experience to employees spread across all time zones.
In addition, we created an internal campaign to support Virginia’s strategy using three cameras at the management team meeting to capture their vision and message for all employees.
3 2 1 Action
“I enjoyed today’s session from start to finish, thank you!”
“A successful event with a fantastic team.”
“A very dynamic session with great content and an excellent format.”
“Very good Town Hall, very well prepared. Let’s continue on our path to success.”
These are just some of the comments that the participants shared after the session, and that show that we achieved all the objectives we had set, which were:
- To highlight in a unique way the company’s new leadership, making a real difference.
- Carry out a large virtual event with excellent quality, whilst offering participants features never seen before, such as subtitles in any language and in real time thanks to artificial intelligence.
- Strengthen the trust between our client and our team, which on this occasion was made up of up of twelve professionals.
- Lay the foundation for a much more ambitious transformation project that will include new languages and formats such as podcasts.
“I feel proud and privileged to havespent time with all of our ESI associates and leaders in our Town,” explains Kirsty Walden. “Although it was me who appeared on camera, behind me there was a dream team that made it possible.”
What satisfies us the most is to see how the ADP Studios inspire new ideas: since its production we have carried out a new Partners Convention and we are preparing the next Town Hall Meeting.
We look forward to continuing to build a great team with ADP for years to come.
